Betting on sports - online petition
Oct 12th, 2009, 6:15am

Alright everyone, sorry to post a url but if you enjoy placing bets on sports competitions then you might be interested in this:

right2bet

It's an online petition and campaign to get fairer gambling laws in the EU.  ATM, punters have their freedom of choice heavily restricted within the EU.  Countries like France, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden etc. have it so we can't always use their bookies, and whilst we're on holiday there, we can't always use our favourite bookies back in the UK (or elsewhere).

Obviously this is going to interest people in the EU more than others, as its us who are losing the chance to get better odds, have difficulty betting abroad sometimes, etc. But if non Europeans want to show solidarity with us poor downtrodden Olde Wolders then we won't complain! Smiley

PS - if you want a more fun way to sign the same petition (read: fit girl, skimpy bikini, marker pen) then check http://www.thenakedpetition.com - they have it set up so you get to "see" more the more you spread the word, and you get a lovely pic delivered to your inbox after you've scrawled all over her lol.

More bookies like VC have come on board with the campaign so it should be getting more high profile in the weeks to come...

hey hockey!  yeah of course i'm a huge sports fan (not really hockey i'm afraid, although i did get to see flames vs oilers when i was in canada - battle of alberta Wink but this is why i posted the petition.

if you don't like to bet on sports, fair enough.  but for those of us who do bet on sports, this is a pretty important thing.  we can't bet where we want to bet, sometimes we can't bet at all, and we are continuously losing the chance of getting the best odds - that means potentially losing money!

so, yeah, i'm a sports fanatic and that's why i'm bothered about right2bet!

Just to update people - if there is anyone who doubted whether or not these EU laws make a difference to your online gambling experience... see http://bit.ly/1iAoxj Shocked Look at the disparity in odds between those gambling monopolies! Also here's an article showing the odds for the Liverpool v Man City premiership game: http://bit.ly/57PUt6 ...So much for "one Europe" lol!

The Right2Bet petition is gaining significant traction at the moment amongst gambling fans, operators and also in different EU Member States. They even have a tool where you can lobby your MEP directly. As soon as their petition reaches 1million, it will go before the EU Commission so I'd encourage everyone to go to http://www.right2bet.net to add your name to the petition now!

Thanks!
Marc

Hello to all i think In the land of the get rich quick systems there is certainly no/not more popular thought than where you believe you can make one big play and score a ton of cash. For many this is essentially what they are trying to do when they start using sports gambling as a way to make some money.
